Support for Families
National Parenting Strategy
The Scottish Government recognises that the largest influence on children in the early years is their parents or carers and so by helping families and communities build better lives for themselves and their children we can help ensure that every child has the best start in life.
We want the best for all our children and as they grow, their needs change and so does the support their parents, carers need, to help children and young people to develop, achieve their potential and grow up to be confident and successful individuals.
The Scottish Government’s National Parenting Strategy will set out the value and importance of parenting and will provide an overview of the policies at a national level which support parenting (covering parents, carers, anyone with a parenting role of children of all ages up to the age of 21). The National Parenting Strategy will be developed to encourage agencies to work together to support parents and families.
